Happy Easter! He is risen!
I was supposed to run 8 miles today, but I almost ran zero out of sheer laziness. Here’s what happened:
Today was such a great, full day. It started super early at church with my in-laws, followed by brunch at my sissy’s. Where I GRUBBED!
I brought a quinoa salad I made up in my head, which is always dangerous. I’m not exactly known for my cooking prowess. It was a combination of my two favorites from Le Pain Quotidien and Jinky’s.
It was actually a huge hit! And super healthy, too! If you come over for lunch, I’ll make it for you.
When the girls and I got home, it was still raining:
And, as usual, the rain didn’t stop the dogs from asking to go swimming:
When I finally put the girls down for their nap, I was exhausted and felt the force of the couch pulling me in. Has that ever happened to you? Where you know you need to get your workout in, but the couch is so dang comfy?
But, I remembered that while I would much rather have curled up with Ruth Colada (the lab) on the couch and read the paper, I want to go to Boston more. By the time I came to the conclusion that I better use my kids’ nap time wisely, it was too late to get in 8 and stretch, so I settled for 6.12, which is better than nothing.
Today was the first day since my injury that I pushed the pace on the TM to where I couldn’t keep up a good conversation with my imaginary friends. I’m still not back to where I was pre-injury, but I’m getting there.
Mentally, I have to keep things interesting on the ‘mill otherwise I’ll have an all out temper tantrum and quit running altogether. It felt good today! I only stopped once to stretch my knee. Should we name that sucker? I feel like it needs a name because it’s truly the bane of my existence right now.
Yesterday’s long run was a sweatfest because of the humidity, but today’s was all about the hard work:
The top two takeaways from visiting my amazing PT are that gentle stretching and intense icing are critical to injury rehab and prevention, and I’m absolutely positive that his work and my own stretching and icing have helped me rehab so successfully. I’m not done with PT, but I’m certainly getting there.
I’m 10 weeks out from Mountains 2 Beach. I have a lot of really hard work to do. Here’s to the next 9!
What should I name my jank knee?
What motivates you to get off the couch?
I want to take a trip to Boston.
Are you a dog person or a cat person?
I’m completely, 100,000% a dog person. No questions asked. While it’s against everything I stand for, here’s to cat lady blogs:
